St AugustineCouple Shot During Home Invasion on St John's Road

St Michael Village, St John's Road, St Augustine, Tunapuna - Piarco

Kemel Audain and Malaika Thomas were shot at their St Michael Village home on St John's Road, St Augustine around 2:45 a.m. on Monday, May 25, 2026, after confronting a suspected intruder who forced entry into their residence. The couple awoke to noises at the door, got up to investigate, and saw the silhouette of a man outside; when Audain shouted at the suspect, the gunman opened fire into the home. Residents reported hearing six loud explosions as the gunman fled down a nearby hill and escaped into nearby bushes. Audain sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg while Thomas was struck twice, sustaining two gunshot wounds to her right ankle. Both were injured in the attack. Police are investigating the home invasion and shooting; the suspect remains at large.
