A multi-agency cannabis suppression exercise in the mountains off Wharf Trace, Maracas Valley, St. Joseph destroyed nine illegal cannabis fields spanning approximately 0.459 hectares with an estimated street value of TT$2.5 million on Thursday, July 2, 2026. The operation seized and destroyed approximately 8,048 fully grown cannabis trees, 300 seedlings, one cultivation camp, and related equipment, with a total estimated weight of 365.8 kilos. The exercise was coordinated by ACP Teewarie of the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB), Snr Sup Edwards of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), and Snr Sup Vernly Gift in the Northern Division. Support units included the Coastal and Air Support Unit, SIU Jungle Operations Team, TTPS Air Support Unit, NCTFW, NCTFE, NCD CID Ops, NEDTF, EDTF, Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Regiment MACP Company, TTR Special Forces Operations Detachment, and the National Operation Fusion Centre (NOFC).
