PreysalFruit Vendor Beaten, Robbed of $2,500 at Flyover Stall

Preysal Flyover, near Preysal gas station, Preysal, Couva - Tabaquite - Talparo

A fruit vendor was beaten and robbed of $2,500 at his stall on the Preysal Flyover near the Preysal gas station on Wednesday around 4:30 PM. Five men, three of whom the victim knew, exited a white Nissan B14 and attacked him with a steel pipe, cutlass, wood, and a shovel, striking him multiple times about the body. The assailants took $2,500 from the victim before fleeing in the vehicle. The victim was transported to the Couva District Health Facility where he was treated for his injuries and discharged. Police officers from the Couva Division are continuing enquiries into the incident; no arrests have been made.
