Sea LotsMan Beaten to Death Over Alleged Child Sexual Assault (Hasim Ali, 52)

Near standpipe vicinity of Central Market, Sea Lots, Port of Spain

Hasim Ali, 52, was beaten to death by Sea Lots residents on Thursday night after allegations emerged that he had sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in the community. The teenager reported that she was taken to Ali's home where she was allegedly assaulted; she was then allowed to leave and told relatives of the incident. Residents confronted Ali and beat him severely, leaving him semi-conscious near a standpipe in the vicinity of the Central Market. Ali was transported to Port of Spain General Hospital but was unable to provide an official statement due to his condition; he reportedly denied the allegations to investigators. Ali was pronounced dead at approximately 10:17 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026. Officers from the Homicide Bureau and Besson Street Police Station are investigating the beating death; the underlying sexual assault allegation is also under investigation.
