Thieves broke into Cellular Planet Limited, an authorised B-mobile agent on Broadway Street in Arima, sometime between the evening of June 2 and early hours of June 3, gaining access by cutting a square opening through the ceiling of the second floor. Security officers from Amalgamated Security Services responded to an intruder alarm activated around 2:30 a.m. and discovered signs of forced entry, immediately alerting police. The intruders disabled both the surveillance camera system and alarm network before attempting to breach security vaults using a metal grinder. Staff discovered $18,631 in cash had been stolen from two mini-vaults, along with several mobile phone accessories and other items prepared for transport; the perpetrators were unable to access a separate vault housing mobile phones. Officers from the Northern North Division CID responded and conducted an inspection of the premises. Investigations into the burglary and larceny are continuing; no arrests have been made.
