A 67-year-old Santa Cruz resident was arrested on Saddle Road, Lower Santa Cruz on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. during a Western Division Task Force anti-crime exercise. Officers conducted a search of the suspect's residence and discovered one homemade shotgun concealed in a bedroom. Eleven rounds of 12-gauge cartridges were also recovered, hidden inside a toddler's lunch kit in the living room. The man was arrested in connection with the illegal possession of the firearm and ammunition. The operation was sanctioned by Senior Superintendent Williams and coordinated by multiple officers including Superintendent Mohammed, Acting ASP Borris, Inspector Grant, Acting Sergeant Dominique, and Corporal Robinson.
