A 21-year-old Morvant man lost $3,200 to a woman operating under the Instagram handle 'Kavita M' who promised to obtain an iPhone 14 and dental braces for him. The victim was initially contacted on June 17 via Instagram; the suspect claimed to come from a wealthy family and could facilitate the purchase of both items. A meeting was arranged at Adam's Bagels, the victim's workplace, for Wednesday, June 18, 2026. The suspect arrived at approximately 4:45 p.m., collected $3,200 in cash ($2,500 for the iPhone, $700 for braces), and departed in a white station wagon with unknown registration. After the transaction, the victim discovered he had been blocked on Instagram and could not contact the suspect. He never received either the iPhone or the dental braces. Police are investigating the report of larceny; no arrests have been made.
