An attorney's apartment on Abdool Ghany Street, Barataria was burglarized around 3:50 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, with the suspect forcing entry through the glass front door and ransacking the living room. Missing items included an HP laptop, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra cellphone, Samsung smartwatch, OnePlus earbuds, and keys to a Hyundai Tucson SUV. Alert neighbours spotted the suspicious man in the yard and confronted him, prompting the suspect to flee by jumping a wall on the southern side of the property. All stolen items were abandoned and later recovered by police. Officers from the Barataria CID and the North Eastern Division Task Force responded and are continuing investigations.
