Pax ValeArmed Man Fires at Police, Arrested With Cannabis and Ammunition

An armed occupant exited a vehicle on Positive Street, Pax Vale, Santa Cruz on Sunday, June 28, 2026 around 10:45 PM and fired two shots at a police vehicle during a chase. Officers were on mobile patrol when they received information about a suspicious vehicle in the area and pursued it with siren and lights engaged. One officer returned fire in keeping with TTPS Use of Force Policy; the assailant fled into an empty lot and escaped. The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene. A search of the vehicle revealed 146 cannabis plants in three cardboard boxes in the trunk, one Glock pistol with two magazines containing 34 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and an FUL booklet for the pistol. Further searches at the suspect's home uncovered additional ammunition not listed in the FUL booklet and more cannabis. Investigations are ongoing into the matter.
