Vandals cut underground electrical cables at the HDC's Corinth Hills Development on Saturday, June 27, disrupting power to approximately 220 customers. According to Minister Phillip Alexander, T&TEC crews worked throughout the weekend and restored electricity to about 140 customers by Sunday morning. Repair work continued on Sunday, with approximately 80 customers expected to remain without power for an additional three to four hours while damaged cables were replaced. The armoured electrical cables targeted are highly valuable and are often stripped and sold on the black market for their metal content. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information about those responsible for the vandalism to contact the police or T&TEC as investigations continue.
