A 39-year-old man was attacked and beaten by a 58-year-old welder and his 28-year-old fisherman son in Ste. Madeleine on April 23rd around 8:30 p.m. The victim was allegedly attacked by two dogs; after defending himself by kicking one animal, an argument erupted with the dog's owner, who emerged armed with a cutlass. A second man then joined the confrontation armed with a metal rod, and the victim was beaten about the head and body. The victim sought hospital treatment for his injuries. Both accused appeared in court on May 5th, 2026, and were each granted $80,000 bail with surety. They are ordered to stay 100 feet from the victim, remain in Ste. Madeleine, and report monthly to the local police station.
