Two men were arrested during Operation R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. conducted by the Central Division Task Force (Area South) on Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18 at a bar and lounge along Southern Main Road, California, Couva. A 40-year-old man from East Boundary Street, California was found carrying a .38 Smith & Wesson Special revolver concealed in a shoulder bag, containing five rounds of 9mm ammunition engraved with TTPS markings. A 32-year-old man from Ridgewood Gardens, Golconda, San Fernando was also searched at the same establishment and found in possession of a Palmetto Dagger Compact 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine containing 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition. Both men admitted they were not licensed firearm holders and lacked required authorisation under the Firearms Act. Officers later searched the home of one suspect under the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2026, where they discovered an additional 28 rounds of TTPS-marked 9mm ammunition and approximately 268 grammes of cannabis. Both men were arrested on suspicion of firearm-related offences.
