Masked gunmen open fire in Santa Cruz; one dead, one wounded (Dillon Pakeera, 29)

Moraldo Trace, Upper Santa Cruz, Sam Boucaud , San Juan - Laventille

A 29-year-old man (Dillon Pakeera) was shot and killed, and a 46-year-old man was wounded during a gun attack at a residence on Moraldo Trace, Upper Santa Cruz on Friday, June 27th around 6:45 p.m. The victim was speaking with a neighbor when three masked gunmen approached and opened fire before escaping through a nearby yard. The 29-year-old was found dead lying on his back in a yard on the northern side of the road. The 46-year-old was shot in the right arm and was taken to Port of Spain General Hospital by a relative for treatment. The District Medical Officer declared the man dead and ordered a post-mortem at the Forensic Science Centre. Officers retrieved 33 spent 5.56 calibre shells from the scene.
