A major intelligence-led police operation was conducted on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in south Trinidad targeting a drug trafficking network operating within the South Western Division. Officers from specialist units of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the Southern Division Task Force, and the Inter-Agency Task Force carried out coordinated operations across the Southern and South Western Divisions. During searches at Richardson Trace in Fyzabad, law enforcement discovered five crocus bags containing 225 packets of high-grade Colombian cannabis weighing approximately 207.9 kilogrammes. The total value of seized narcotics exceeded $23 million. One suspect was arrested during the operation. Police had launched the exercise after receiving intelligence that a drug trafficking network had recently smuggled a large shipment of narcotics from South America into the country.
