Man shot by sibling in land dispute (Teran Rampersad, 60)

3 3/4mm Surrey Village, Lopinot (garage on parcel of land), Lopinot , Tunapuna - Piarco

Teran Rampersad, 60, of Carapo Main Road, Arima, was shot in the neck during a family land dispute on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at approximately 2:20 p.m. in a garage at 3 3/4mm Surrey Village, Lopinot. His brother Richard Rampersad, 49, of Benny Road, Valencia, emerged from behind a parked vehicle armed with a firearm, pointed it at Teran and his son, and said "You will die for the land" before firing a shot that struck Teran in the right side of his neck. Teran collapsed to the ground with blood oozing from the wound. Police responded and transported him to Arima General Hospital, where he was medically examined before being transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. The shooting arose from a bitter land dispute between the two brothers.
