ChaguanasBusinesswoman Robbed of $46,000 Outside Scotia Bank After Taser Attack

Scotia Bank, Southern Main Road, Chaguanas

A businesswoman was robbed of $46,000 in cash outside Scotia Bank on Southern Main Road, Chaguanas on Friday, July 25, 2025 at approximately 9:45 a.m. after being attacked with a taser-like device during a violent struggle over her purse. The suspect ran up and grabbed her purse, and during the ensuing struggle she was shocked twice with an electric device before collapsing to the ground; the attacker then fled with the purse containing the day's sales. A passerby witnessed the attack and attempted to intervene, but the suspect escaped in a white Nissan Note; the purse was later recovered nearby during the commotion. Surveillance footage and witness statements revealed that two suspects had earlier trailed the victim into Republic Bank before the robbery at Scotia Bank. Four men were intercepted in Couva as they attempted to return the rented getaway vehicle: Isiah Chow (24), Tyrese David (30), Joel Charles (26), and Arlon Reid (18), who is reportedly a suspect in ongoing taxi robberies in Chaguanas.
