Woman steals laptop and purse from Hyatt Regency Hotel

Hyatt Regency Hotel lobby, Port of Spain

A woman left her silver Apple MacBook Air laptop, valued at $12,000, and a purse containing bank and identification cards in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port of Spain while conducting a site visit on Thursday afternoon around 3 p.m. When she returned a short time later, both items were missing without her permission. Police tracked the stolen laptop to Frederick Street near Rituals, and discovered that one of the stolen bank cards had been used to make an $89 transaction at a clothing store on Frederick Street around 3:30 p.m. CCTV footage from the store showed a woman placing a silver Apple MacBook Air on the counter during a purchase, wearing a black jersey with 'SEXY' written across it, dark blue jeans, brown slippers, a black and red wig, and black glasses. Police arrested a 42-year-old woman from Caiman Road, St. Joseph in connection with the theft. The stolen items were recovered in her possession, and she is currently detained at the Belmont Police Station.
