Attempted MurderAssault

1 injured

Student beaten unconscious at school (14-year-old)

Barataria South Secondary School, Block E, San Juan, San Juan - Laventille

A 14-year-old Form Three student at Barataria South Secondary School was beaten unconscious during an altercation on the school compound on Wednesday during lunch break between 11 am and noon. The incident began when a plastic bottle containing water was thrown from the third floor, wetting the teen on the second floor. The student filled a container with water and went to the third floor to confront the group responsible. When no one responded to his demands, he threw water at the group, wetting three students. An 18-year-old male student then caught the 14-year-old, lifted him, and threw him onto the concrete stairway. Two other students joined in and kicked the teen about his body. The injured student was assisted by other pupils and taken to the principal's office. He was treated at school and later transported to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for further medical attention, where he remained under observation and was expected to undergo a CT scan. The three students involved were taken to Barataria Police Station with their parents, where a report was made.
