Gunned down while walking with wife (Collis Meade, 25)

SS Erin Road near Farooks Auto Supplies Ltd, Penal, Penal - Debe

Collis Meade, a 25-year-old labourer of Sunrees Road, Penal, was fatally shot around 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday while walking along SS Erin Road with his wife, a cousin, and the cousin's partner. A man of African descent wearing a white t-shirt, blue pants, and black ski mask exited a white vehicle and fired multiple shots at the group, striking Meade multiple times. Meade sustained gunshot wounds to the chest, leg, and scalp, along with fractures and a cut to the face. He was transported to Siparia District Health Facility before being transferred to San Fernando General Hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries at 10:31 a.m. Police recovered eight spent 9mm shell casings and a pair of black slippers at the scene. The shooting is suspected to be gang-related, and police in the Penal district are investigating.
