Attempted cellphone robbery thwarted by supervising officer (38)

6th Avenue near St. George's Savannah, Barataria, San Juan, San Juan - Laventille

A 38-year-old supervising officer was walking along 6th Avenue near St. George's Savannah in Barataria around 9:50 p.m. on February 25, 2026, when two men attempted to steal his cellphone. The officer managed to retrieve his phone and flagged down a passing patrol vehicle for assistance. WPC Sequea apprehended one suspect on the spot, while PC Quan chased and detained the second suspect at the corner of 5th Avenue and 6th Street. Both suspects, aged 26 and 25 from Morvant, were taken to Barataria Police Station for further investigation.
