Prominent Arima bookseller gunned down at home (Azard Pooran)

Azard Pooran, a well-known businessman and owner of Shock'n Stock Booksellers & Stationers, was shot and killed at his Plumrose Avenue residence in Santa Rosa, Arima on Monday, March 2nd, 2026. The attack occurred at his home in the driveway during nighttime hours, sending shockwaves through the eastern borough community. Pooran was a prominent figure in the Arima business community, operating his longstanding bookstore at the Shoppes of Arima. He was fatally shot during the attack at his residence. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The circumstances surrounding the shooting and the motive remain unclear at this time. Investigators are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
