A 64-year-old German national vacationing at Shepherds Inn Hotel in Tobago secured his room around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, and went to bed. When he awoke around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, he discovered his room door wide open and found his iPhone 17 valued at TT$10,000, a backpack containing clothes and personal items, and a small dark blue bag with USB cables and a charger, all missing. A report was made to police, who traced the suspect to Scarborough Port Mall and apprehended him. The suspect led officers to the Botanic Gardens and the Shepherds Inn compound, where all stolen items were recovered. The suspect was taken into custody at Shirvan Road Police Station and was expected to appear in the High Court on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
