A female victim was targeted by a fraudster during a pre-arranged meeting along the Eastern Main Road in Barataria around 4:00 p.m. The suspect met the woman at her workplace under the guise of purchasing a Samsung S23 ($3,400.00 TT) and a Samsung S20 FE ($1,500.00 TT) via Facebook Marketplace. After receiving the phones in a bag, the suspect handed over an envelope purportedly containing $4,900.00 TT and claimed he was going to his vehicle to retrieve his ID for the bill of sale. He fled the scene with the devices, and the victim subsequently discovered the currency in the envelope was counterfeit.
