Shandon Arjoon, 39, was shot and killed around 11:20 AM on Southern Main Road in South Oropouche near the underpass. He was standing near a parcel of land he had recently purchased, where he was constructing a commercial and residential building, when a gunman crossed the road and fired two shots at him. As Arjoon collapsed, the gunman ran off and was seen changing his clothes during his escape. Arjoon's father, Keith Arjoon, and other relatives gathered at the scene. His uncle, Clint Arjoon, stated that Shandon had received threats but did not disclose further details to avoid disrupting the investigation. The gunman approached from behind, preventing Arjoon from using his licensed firearm. Homicide detectives processed the scene and were investigating the motive. While there was speculation the murder was linked to a land dispute, investigators had not confirmed a motive as of the evening of the incident.
