Operation Chopper nets illegal firearms and ammunition in south-west police crackdown

South-West Trinidad, Point Fortin

Police conducted a coordinated anti-crime operation on Sunday, March 22, 2026, between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. in Point Fortin and Guapo targeting persons of interest under the Emergency Powers Regulations. Officers recovered one shotgun with seven 12-gauge cartridges and two rounds of 9mm ammunition during the operation. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the firearm and ammunition, while a third individual was held for possession of ammunition. The operation involved the South Western Division Task Force, Gang Unit, CID teams, and the K9 Unit, with investigations continuing.
