Labourer Stephen Leith, 32, of Fanny Village, Point Fortin, was stabbed by a man known to him around 4:30 p.m. on Waterlane Street near Bakie's Bar in Princes Town. After the attack, Leith fled and entered a passing vehicle to the Princes Town District Health Facility. Before arriving at the hospital, Leith sent a voice note to his girlfriend identifying his attacker as the father of her children, saying "Yuh child father now stab me… I cyah breathe." When police arrived at the health facility, Leith repeated that he had been stabbed by his girlfriend's ex-partner. His condition deteriorated shortly after, and he was pronounced dead at 6 p.m. Investigators noted the suspect is the father of the victim's girlfriend's children. The woman had ended her previous relationship with the suspect approximately two years prior and had obtained a protection order against him.
