A 36-year-old man allegedly grabbed his 35-year-old Venezuelan wife's Samsung S23 cellphone, valued at $3,500, from her hand at a bar on Guayaguayare Road, Mayaro around 10 p.m. on Sunday and kept it without permission. The woman left the bar and went to her apartment, fearing he would follow her. Around 2:15 a.m. on Monday, she heard banging and threats at her door as he attempted to force entry. Police responded and found him trying to open her apartment door; he violently resisted arrest, kicking and striking both responding officers. The stolen cellphone was recovered from his possession. The man was arrested and charged; the two officers were treated for injuries at Mayaro District Hospital.
