A 43-year-old fisherman was attacked with a cutlass at a fishing port in Guayaguayare on June 18 at approximately 5:30 a.m.

A 43-year-old fisherman was attacked with a cutlass at a fishing port in Guayaguayare on June 18 at approximately 5:30 a.m. while relaxing in a hammock. The suspect, identified as 'Bobo' and known to the victim, approached him armed with a cutlass and launched a sudden attack, chopping the victim on his right hand and inflicting severe injuries. The assailant continued swinging the weapon as the injured man attempted to escape. Despite his wounds, the fisherman managed to flee and seek assistance; the suspect fled the scene shortly afterwards. The victim was initially treated at a nearby health facility before being transferred to Sangre Grande Hospital, where doctors performed surgery to address his injuries. He remains warded at the hospital recovering from the attack. Police are investigating the incident and searching for the suspect 'Bobo'; no arrests have been made.
