Woman Thrown to Ground and Robbed of $20,000 Gold Bangles Near Central Bank

Independence Square South & Edward Street, Port of Spain

A 40-year-old woman was violently robbed of her jewelry while walking along Independence Square South on Wednesday morning. As she crossed Edward Street, a man approached her from behind and attempted to snatch a pair of gold bangles from her wrist. A struggle ensued, during which the victim was thrown to the pavement. The assailant successfully removed the jewelry, valued at $20,000, and fled south toward South Quay. Police are searching for a slim-built man of mixed descent in connection with the attack.
