Coast Guard officer Dacian John, 36, of Loblolly Drive, La Resource Road, D'Abadie, was shot and killed during an armed robbery on Cassia Street in Point Fortin early Friday morning around 1:15 a.m. John was seated in his Audi vehicle with a fellow female Coast Guard officer and another individual, waiting to pick up a Guyanese friend who had recently arrived in the country. Three armed men ambushed the group and announced a robbery, taking gold jewelry and valuables from the victims. Before John could draw his service-issued firearm, one of the attackers shot him fatally. The group had been planning to attend the Suave Fantasy All in White Borough Thursday party at Clifton Hill Beach later that day.
