On Saturday, May 3, 2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m., 44-year-old Jason Thomas was shot at his residence in Success Village, Laventille following a heated altercation with his brother Junior Thomas over the spending of their father's Old Age Pension. During the argument, Junior threatened Jason and stated he would hire a gunman to shoot him. Junior then drove away in a blue Tucson and returned minutes later with a masked gunman who emerged from the vehicle. As Jason attempted to flee through the yard, the suspect fired multiple shots at him before both men fled the scene in the vehicle with Junior driving. Police responded to the incident and are investigating the circumstances and identities of those involved.
