Police recover 12-gauge shotgun hidden in bushy area

Members of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) discovered an illegal 12-gauge single-barrel shotgun during a search operation on January 14, 2026, around 6:30 pm in a bushy area off Richplain Road in Diego Martin. Officers on patrol located a 4-foot-long black cylindrical pipe with a cover at the top concealed in the vegetation. Upon removing the cover, they found the loaded shotgun and one 12-gauge shotgun cartridge hidden inside. The weapon and ammunition were seized as evidence. PC Taylor is continuing the investigation into the discovery and will work to determine who concealed the firearm and for what purpose.
