Point FortinSupermarket Employee Held in $53,000 Western Union Theft Probe

Supermarket (Western Union counter), Point Fortin

Supermarket employee Renee Joseph is in police custody following an investigation into the disappearance of $53,817 in cash from Western Union transactions at a Point Fortin supermarket. CCTV footage allegedly showed Joseph seated at the Western Union counter receiving cash, inspecting it, and placing it into her handbag; subsequent checks revealed the total amount was unaccounted for. Joseph was approached on the compound, informed of the allegations, cautioned, and arrested on suspicion of larceny on April 19, 2026. The matter was reported to police at 5:45 p.m. that day. Officers PC Ramroop, PC Gopaul, and WPC Carter Thompson conducted the investigation.
