Man shot while dropping off female passenger in Cocorite (39-year-old, Trincity)

Harding Place, Cocorite, Port of Spain

A 39-year-old man from Trincity was shot and injured in Cocorite early Wednesday morning around 1:00 a.m. on May 28, 2025. The victim had just dropped off a female passenger at Harding Place when he came under fire while reversing his vehicle. An AR-15 casing was recovered at the scene, indicating the use of a high-powered rifle. In an attempt to flee the gunfire, the victim lost control of his blue Toyota Corolla NZE and crashed into two other parked vehicles, causing damage to all three vehicles involved. The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper right side of his chest. Police from the St. James CID and Western Division Task Force responded to reports of loud explosions in the area. The wounded man was transported to St. James Medical Facility for initial treatment before being transferred to Port of Spain General Hospital, where he remained in stable condition. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
