Pensioner found dead in kitchen (Peter Banfield, 75)

Peter Banfield, a 75-year-old pensioner, was found dead in his kitchen at his Mamoral Road home in Flanagin Town on Thursday, June 12, 2025, around 7:30 p.m. His body was discovered in a pool of blood with apparent head injuries after a relative went to check on him when he failed to answer phone calls. Christopher Banfield, the deceased's son who reportedly suffers from mental illness, showed up at a relative's home earlier that evening and stated he had a fight with his father before leaving him in the kitchen. The circumstances and nature of the altercation remain under investigation. Police have taken Christopher Banfield into custody and are investigating the death as a suspected murder. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the pensioner's death.
