TT Rideshare driver Abebe Lemessy was kidnapped and robbed in Laventille on Monday, May 4, 2026, after accepting a pickup request near the corner of Piccadilly Street and Laventille Road in east Port of Spain. A passenger entered the vehicle and placed a gun against the driver's head, ordering him to drive into Laventille and up Rose Hill, where several armed men surrounded the SUV and took control of it. During the ordeal, Lemessy was threatened and robbed by the bandits, with one assailant telling him, "Doh worry, we ain't plan to kill nobody tonight," as they continued to terrorise him.
