Port of SpainUK Visitor (27) Kidnapped, Beaten, Robbed on Ariapita Avenue

Ariapita Avenue at Hamilton Holder Street, Port of Spain

A 27-year-old British national was kidnapped, assaulted and robbed on Ariapita Avenue near Hamilton Holder Street, Port of Spain around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026. The victim was ambushed by a group of four masked men and one unmasked woman who forced him into a black van and drove him to an unknown location. During the ordeal lasting several hours, the captors assaulted the victim, held him against his will, threatened his life and demanded money. The suspects robbed him of three bank cards and US$200 before releasing him near a bus shed on the Audrey Jeffers Highway. The victim returned to his hotel in Port of Spain in the early hours of Friday morning and reported the incident to his manager and police. Officers have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.
