A 25-year-old ride-share driver was robbed and carjacked on Laventille Road, Laventille on Wednesday night after picking up a passenger on Eighth Avenue, Barataria. Upon arrival at the destination, the passenger began choking the driver, causing him to crash into a parked car, while a gunman approached the vehicle. Six men then forced the driver out, tied his hands and feet, blindfolded him, and bundled him into the trunk of his own car. The driver was taken to a house where he was beaten by the bandits, who then fled in his vehicle. The victim freed himself with assistance from nearby residents and the stolen vehicle was later recovered in Ovid Valley and towed to Besson Street Police Station. Officers from the Port of Spain CID are investigating the incident; no arrests have been made.
