A 39-year-old Diego Martin resident was attacked outside his home on North Post Road around 3:05 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, when he discovered a suspect attempting to steal his Toyota Fielder. The victim chased the fleeing suspect down the hill but was then struck and pinned against a metal gate by a silver Hyundai Tucson (partial registration PDX 94) driven by a second suspect. The SUV reversed away after pinning the victim, and both suspects escaped northbound along North Post Road in the Hyundai after picking up the first suspect. The victim's Toyota Fielder showed signs of tampering to the ignition, rear triangular window, and the area covering the hybrid battery, indicating an attempted theft in progress. Police are investigating the incident; no arrests have been made at this time.
