Morvant1,591.5g Cannabis Seized in Anti-Crime Operation

Caledonia, basketball court and Pitch Road, Morvant, San Juan, San Juan - Laventille

Officers from the North Eastern Division seized a total of 1,591.5 grammes of cannabis during an anti-crime exercise conducted under Operation Steady GUARD in Morvant on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The operation was conducted between 1:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. by officers from the Morvant Criminal Investigations Department, Barataria CID, North Eastern Division Task Force, and Canine Unit across several areas within Morvant. During searches at a basketball court at Caledonia, Morvant, officers discovered 194 grammes of cannabis concealed near a rubbish bin. Officers then searched a bushy area off Pitch Road, Morvant, where they found 1,397.5 grammes of cannabis concealed beneath galvanised sheets. The narcotics were seized pending further investigations; searches at homes of several persons of interest yielded no illegal items.
