CocoriteMan Shot Five Times While Sleeping; 18-Year-Old Arrested

Cocorite Terrace, Port of Spain

Marvin Harper, 52, of Cocorite Terrace was shot five times while asleep in his home around 2:15 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026. Harper was awakened by loud explosions and saw a man known to him as 'Rebel' holding a firearm before multiple additional shots were fired, causing him to collapse. Harper sustained three gunshot wounds to the upper body and two to the right side of his waist. He was rushed to St James Medical Complex and later transferred to Port of Spain General Hospital, where he remains warded in stable condition. Crime Scene Investigators recovered eight spent 9mm shell casings and several fragments from the scene. Following investigations, police arrested 18-year-old Terry Dexter of Cocorite Terrace; a gunshot residue test was conducted on the suspect, who remains in custody as enquiries continue.
