A 34-year-old man from Tobago was attacked and robbed on the Promenade at Independence Square, Port of Spain around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3rd. A group of five to six men approached the victim and demanded he hand over a bag containing his personal belongings. During the confrontation, one suspect grabbed the bag, causing the victim to fall to the ground. The group then surrounded the man and assaulted him while searching his pockets. The attackers escaped with a wallet, a Samsung A05 cellular phone, a wristwatch, his driver's permit and identification card before fleeing on foot in the direction of the Diego Martin taxi stand. Police are investigating the violent robbery; no arrests have been made.
