Four masked men attempted to break into a vehicle parked in the Oropune Gardens apartment complex parking area at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026. An off-duty police officer observed three men in dark clothing tampering with the vehicle and immediately contacted the vehicle's owner, who is also a police officer. When the two officers approached and identified themselves as police, a loud explosion was heard and a fourth suspect appeared nearby; one officer discharged his licensed firearm in the direction of the fourth suspect. The fourth man fled the area while the three other suspects ran into nearby bushes and escaped before additional officers arrived.
