A 39-year-old prison officer was attacked with a cutlass while sitting inside a parked vehicle on Seagull Terrace, Maloney Gardens on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at approximately 4:40 p.m. The suspect, a man known to the victim, approached the vehicle and launched the attack, inflicting multiple chop wounds to the officer's right leg, knee, calf, and upper leg, as well as lacerations to his right hand. The injured officer was transported to Arima General Hospital where he received medical treatment and was discharged in stable condition. Police detained a 25-year-old suspect in connection with the attack; investigations are ongoing.
