A 42-year-old taxi driver was stabbed in the back during a violent robbery in Upper La Retreat, Arima on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at approximately 8:45 p.m. while operating his green Nissan Almera. Two men posing as passengers suddenly announced a robbery and began struggling with the driver inside the vehicle. During the confrontation, the taxi driver was stabbed in the back; despite his injuries, he accelerated the vehicle and escaped, forcing the two suspects to jump out and flee. The robbers escaped with a Samsung cellular phone valued at approximately $500 and about $700 in cash. The injured driver sought treatment at Arima hospital. Police are investigating the incident; no arrests have been made.
