Port of Spain75-Year-Old Detained in Human Trafficking & Sexual Assault Investigation

A 75-year-old businessman from Pine Avenue, Bayshore, Westmoorings was detained during a coordinated police raid in Port of Spain on Friday, July 3, 2026, as part of Operation R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. Shield targeting human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Police said the man has previously been charged with rape and is suspected of owning two establishments believed to be operating as brothels. Investigators are examining whether the premises are linked to organised human trafficking or the sexual exploitation of vulnerable migrants, with the detained businessman assisting in ongoing enquiries. Officers from specialised units and the Immigration Division conducted the intelligence-led exercise between 5 am and 11 am, during which 36 foreign nationals—including 14 adult men, 12 adult women, and ten children—were also detained for immigration violations.
