A 62-year-old man from Laventille was robbed of $1,350 by four armed suspects on Independence Square near Scotiabank in Port of Spain on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 around 11:30 a.m. Three of the suspects were armed with knives while the fourth carried a cutlass; one suspect pushed the victim against a fence and demanded his cash. Fearing for his life, the victim complied as the group searched him and took $1,350 in cash. The four suspects fled east along Independence Square and escaped. Police are investigating the armed robbery; no arrests have been reported.
