CocoyeaSRP Officer Stabbed During Rideshare Pickup; Three Suspects Flee

A 40-year-old Special Reserved Police Officer from Carapichaima was stabbed multiple times on Simpson Brown Terrace, Cocoyea on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at approximately 3:00 AM while working as a TT Rideshare driver. The officer had accepted a ride request to transport three persons (one male and two females of African descent) from Naparima Mayaro Road when the passengers became aggressive and demanded he stop at Simpson Brown Terrace; when he declined and continued following his GPS route, they began banging on his seat. The male passenger then cut the officer to the neck, cheek, chin, and hand with a knife before all three assailants fled the vehicle on foot. The officer drove himself to the Mon Repos Police Station and was subsequently rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police are investigating the assault and robbery; no arrests have been made at the time of reporting.
