Jervon Gilkes, 34, of Swan Lane, Red Hill, was shot at while driving his beige Nissan Almera along Samaan Drive, Old Piarco Road, D'Abadie on Tuesday night at approximately 9:00 p.m. A lone gunman ambushed the vehicle and opened fire, striking it multiple times and leaving bullet holes in the windscreen. Gilkes escaped the attack by abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot after the shooting began. He was transported to Arima Hospital by a private vehicle and subsequently transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he was listed in stable but critical condition and scheduled for emergency surgery. Crime Scene Investigators recovered 13 spent shell casings and three bullet fragments from the scene; the damaged vehicle was seized for further examination.
