Man shot and chopped during home invasion, Toyota Hilux stolen (Garvin Seecharan)

Rochard Road, Penal, Penal - Debe

Garvin Seecharan was ambushed by armed assailants as he entered his home on Rochard Road, Penal around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, shortly after returning from a night out at a bar in Barrackpore. The attackers, some armed with guns and others with cutlasses, shot him in the leg (the bullet struck his phone, reducing impact) and inflicted two chop wounds to his head. Seecharan managed to escape to a neighbour's home while the suspects fled in his blue Toyota Hilux (registration TDS 3649). Seecharan was treated at Siparia Health Facility for his injuries. The stolen vehicle was recovered shortly after, stuck in mud at Oropouche South Trace, Barrackpore. Reports indicate Seecharan had been at a bar in Barrackpore earlier that night where an altercation occurred between him and the bar's owner. He and his group left the bar around 3 a.m., approximately one hour before the attack.
